VCA Artists Nights: Lynne Mackey, Classical Pianist
The recital will feature music of Russian composers ranging from romantic pieces of Rachmaninoff and Medtner, to the whimsical humor of Stravinsky and Prokofiev.
Pianist Lynne Mackey has performed in solo and chamber music settings in the United States and overseas, and was the first performing arts recipient of an Appalachian College Association Fellowship in the field of new music. Her performances of new works include three New York premieres, and she also currently tours as a pianist with the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Dr. Mackey received graduate degrees from the Eastman School of Music and The Juilliard School, and her undergraduate degree from The University of Michigan. Dr. Mackey is Associate Professor of Music at Eastern Mennonite University. She is also Director of the Virginia Baroque Performance Academy.
