My painting is a response to nature that is an exploration of seeing inward to express its spiritual essence. The discovery of no longer being interested in painting the imitation of things has led my painting in a direction that is more personal and authentic. Yet, nature continues to be the source and inspiration of my work.
The process of painting the intangible has inspired creative and challenging possibilities. This inward search often leads to a complete transformation from the initial interpretation of an idea. In my work I express the contrast of opposing qualities using form and color. The dualities within nature: the illusive and ethereal yet concrete; the infinite within limitations; control and spontaneity; and bold and strong versus the subtlety of muted colors are the source and essence of my work.
