Classes/Workshops

The mission of the Workhouse Arts Center is to enrich the lives of all within its reach by creating a vibrant cultural community that fosters a diverse offering of arts, education, social and entertainment experiences for people of all ages. In keeping with its mission, the Workhouse offers an exciting array of classes and workshops for artists at all levels. Course offerings reflect the Workhouse's commitment to both the visual and performing arts. Students will have the opportunity to learn from instructors who are experts in their craft and to interact with and gain inspiration from other artists.

Teaching opportunities at the Workhouse Arts Center

The Workhouse Arts Center is currently accepting proposals for the spring and summer 2012 quarters and summer camp; the deadline for submission is December 30th, 2011. If you are interested in teaching at the Workhouse Arts Center in the spring or summer 2012, the call-for-classes packet is available online for download HERE (pdf). Quarterly Course Offerings

The fall quarter of classes has come to an end. The winter quarter will run from Monday January 9th, 2012 to Sunday March 11th, 2012. Please click "Course Registration" (above) to see our most current class listings. The spring quarter will run from Monday April 2nd, 2012 to Sunday June 3rd, 2012. The summer quarter will run from Monday June 18th, 2012 to Sunday August 19th, 2012. Registration for the spring and summer is currently not available but should be accessible online in late February 2012. Please visit our NEW registration site to register online by going to https://reservations.workhousearts.org ; classes are added on a daily basis.

Open Studio Time

Ceramics
Open studio time is available to students enrolled in ceramics classes at the Workhouse. The cost is $3 per hour or $26 for a 10 hour pass. Your instructor will provide details about scheduling open studio time during your first class meeting. The Torchworkers Club

Glass
Join the Torchworkers Club and work side by side with your friends and classmates under the guidance of glasshouse staff. This open studio is designed to allow students and experienced glass workers that don't have their own studio to practice, trade ideas, and create in a relaxed, social atmosphere. Club members should have a basic knowledge of flameworking or bead making and be able to work independently.

The Torchworkers Club meets on Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. The fee for studio time is $10 per hour or a 10 hour pass may be purchased for $80. Time must be used in one hour increments at your convenience based upon availability. Reservations are suggested. Supplies are available for purchase or you may bring your own.
